I STARTED OUT PEELING PRAWNS. MY FIRST SHORT FILM
CAOSTICA has been shaking up the Bilbao cultural panorama for 17 years. It is the association responsible for the Caostica International Short Films and Video Clips Festival, for the Tracking Bilbao events on culture and the Internet, and for the conferences on education and human rights through audiovisual means: Gizazinea. It also produces short films, documentaries and other unidentified cinematographic objects.
In this special session, Caostica and ZINEBI 61 pay deserving tribute to the first classes to graduate in Audiovisual Communication from theUPV/EHU(University of the Basque Country) – an unrepeatable generation of students that currently write, produce and direct television series and films with great national and international success, but who started out in this world of cinema like all worthy professionals: peeling prawns.
This is a casual encounter where we can see the first works of some of them and listen to the experiences of others in a conversation brimming with anecdotes, self-flagellation and, above all, tips for the Bilbao audience, especially those who are just getting started with audiovisual creation and production.
Borja Cobeaga, Borja Crespo, Nahikari Ipiña, Sra. Polaroiska (Alaitz Arenzana & María Ibarretxe), Koldo Serra, Nacho Vigalondo, and Haritz Zubillaga, will descend into the purgatory of their origins, they will bare themselves (in an audiovisual sense) and they will show us their first works full of hope, daring, courage and adolescent acne.
And because every saint has a past and every sinner has a future, we must not forget those who lent them their invaluable help: Gorka Aguirre, Jon Ariño, Aránzazu Calleja, Aitor Gutiérrez, Carolina Martínez de Urbina, Rubén Ontiveros, J. A. Pérez Ledo, Alejandro Tejería,Patxi Urquijo, and Gorka Vázquez, amongst others.
Thank you for forming part of this unrepeatable generation, in whose work we find some of the keys to the future of cinema in the Basque Country.
