Kepa Sojo

Basque Country

Born in Llodio (Álava) in 1968, Kepa Sojo is a film director and scriptwriter and professor of film history with the Faculty of Arts at the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU) and a doctor of art history with a thesis on Bienvenido Míster Marshall (Welcome, Mr. Marshall, Luis G. Berlanga, 1952). He has directed the feature film El síndrome de Svensson (2006) and five shorts, including Looking for Chencho (2002), Cuando puedas (2003) and Loco con ballesta (2013), for which he has won 70 national and international awards, such as a nomination for the Goya Award for the Best Fictional Short Film in 2015 and the Audience Award and the Award for the Best Basque Script from the Euskal Herria script writers’ guild at ZINEBI 55 for Loco con ballesta.

He is also the author of many books and articles on cinema, amongst which it is worth noting Americanos, os recibimos con alegría. Una aproximación a Bienvenido Míster Marshall (2009).
