    OPENING CEREMONY

For the first time, María Goiricelaya and Ane Pikaza (La Dramática Errante) will direct the opening and closing ceremonies of ZINEBI, two events where the electro-pop music of the band Merina Gris –during the Opening Gala– and the artistic versatility of GHAU –at the Closing Ceremony– will highlight diversity, commitment and the cinema that is yet to come with the Festival. “Returning to cinemas, vibrating in community and reminding us why this art form was created” are some of the proposals of Bilbao’s creators for these participative and emotion-filled galas where they want to “review the present to build what kind of creators, filmmakers and spectators we will be in the future”. Horman Poster collective, the plastic artist Ismael Iglesias and the actor Kepa Errasti, will be some of the stars that will shine in both ceremonies. We will have the pleasure of the presence of Agnieszka Holland and Iñigo Salaberria‘s relatives at the opening gala, followed by Albert Serra‘s during the closing ceremony, and they will collect their respective Mikeldi of Honour awards. As in previous years, ZINEBI pays special attention to the Basque productions included in its Official Selection – International Short Film Competition. This 7 short films will be screened in the Festival’s opening gala on Friday, November 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Arriaga Theater.
