Before this, pre-premiere at the <strong>Golem Alh\u00f3ndiga Bilbao<\/strong> cinema of the new animated film by Bilbao audiovisual producer <strong>Estudio Creativo Uniko<\/strong>, <em>Unicorn Wars<\/em>, by A Coru\u00f1a director <strong>Alberto V\u00e1zquez<\/strong>, prior to commercial screening on the 21<sup>st<\/sup>.\r\n\r\nBilbao Town Hall\u2019s Culture and Governance Councillor, Gonzalo Olabarria; director of ZINEBI, Vanesa Fern\u00e1ndez, the director of <em>Unicorn Wars, <\/em><strong>Alberto V\u00e1zquez<\/strong>; and the executive producers of the film, <strong>Chelo Loureiro<\/strong> (Abano) and <strong>Iv\u00e1n Mi\u00f1ambres<\/strong> (Uniko), presented the film to the press this morning. Two of the actors lending their voices to the animated film were also at the press conference: <strong>Ram\u00f3n Barea<\/strong> and <strong>Itxaso Quintana<\/strong>.\r\n\r\nThe film, which had its global premiere at the world\u2019s most renowned animation festival, <strong>Annecy<\/strong>, is also co-produced by Galicia\u2019s <strong>Abano Produci\u00f3ns<\/strong> and French Studio <strong>Auteur de Minuit<\/strong>, with which Uniko had already worked on a previous short film <em>Homeless Home<\/em> (2020), nominated for a Goya Award for Best Animated Short Film, with a State premiere at the 62<sup>nd<\/sup> ZINEBI.\r\n\r\nIn addition to his previous short film, V\u00e1zquez had already worked with Uniko on <em>Psiconautas, los ni\u00f1os olvidados<\/em> (in association with Bilbao director Pedro Rivero \u2013 winner of the Goya for Best Animated Feature Film 2017), <em>Decorado<\/em> (premiered at the Cannes Festival, and winner of the Goya Award for Best Animated Short Film 2017) and two short films presented at ZINEBI: <em>Unicorn Blood<\/em> (2014) and <em>Birdboy<\/em> (co-directed by Pedro Rivero, 2010).\r\n\r\n\u00a0\r\n\r\n<strong><u>A STEP FORWARD IN ANIMATED FILMS FOR ADULTS<\/u><\/strong>\r\n\r\nAs in his previous films, V\u00e1zquez maintains an <strong>extremely personal universe<\/strong> which may be recognised within the genre of animated films for adults. <strong>Six years\u2019 work<\/strong> produced an<strong> anti-war fable<\/strong> reflecting on the origins of evil.\r\n\r\nTotally coinciding with a time in History in which wars continue to threaten civilisation, <em>Unicorn Wars<\/em> is based on fantasy and horror films.
