ZINEBI \u2013 the International Festival of Documentary and Short Film of Bilbao<\/strong>, organised by Bilbao Town Hall, presented the image for its 66th festival today, produced by creative studio Cuchillo<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

For the image of this year\u2019s Festival from 8 to 15 November<\/strong>, the studio found inspiration in the roots of documentary films, and its design focused on the personage of Dziga Vertov<\/strong>, one of the great pioneers of the genre, and on his emblematic concept of kino-glaz<\/em> (film-eye)<\/strong>. <\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u201cThe eye is the central feature on the poster for the 66th ZINEBI, symbolising the ability of cinema to observe and create, encouraging viewers to take a look at reality from a critical, transformational perspective.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Vertov, whose real name was Denis Arkadievitch Kaufman, made a stand for filmmaking with no script, plot or actors, believing that the camera could scoop up reality more objectively than the human eye. He felt that films were not just art, but rather a powerful social transformation tool.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The Cuchillo campaign for ZINEBI homed in on Dziga Vertov, held to be one of the fathers of documentary cinema. His most acclaimed film, Man with a Movie Camera<\/em> (1929), is an urban symphony set in the Ukrainian city of Kiev which explores the daily round using a ground-breaking combination of technique and cinematographic experimentation. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n

CREATIVE STUDIO \u2013 CUCHILLO <\/h6><\/div>\r\n\r\n

Based in Bilbao, Cuchillo is an independent creative studio founded in 2015, specialising in identity and interactive design. It has succeeded in creating timeless projects which have won recognition both at home and overseas, with a constant focus on transforming the digital environment in a combination of design, technology and creativity. In the course of its trajectory, to date the Bilbao studio has won seventeen ADG Laus awards, seven Site of the Day Awwwards prizes, and it has also been nominated on five occasions in Awwwards as Studio of the Year.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
