ZINEBI is accredited by the Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as a qualifier for the Oscar awards. It is also a qualifier festival for Spain’s Goya Awards and for the UK’s BAFTAs.
Moreover, it is one of only two State festivals on the list of European competitions which choose a short film every year for the European Film Awards (EFA): the International Jury at this 67th festival will pick a film as contender for the EFA 2026 Best European Short Film Award. Last year the film chosen was Italian production The Eggregores’ Theory (Andrea Gatopoulos, 2024), which also took the ZINEBI Grand Prix.
ZINEBI has been accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) as a festival specialising in short films and documentaries since 1974. It now shares this exclusive distinction with four other prestigious European competitions: Oberhausen (Germany), Tampere (Finland), Krakow (Poland) and Clermont-Ferrand (France).
