Zinebi Animation Lab

Mentoring

With the aim of offering a brief space for guidance and exchange for ongoing animation projects, with special attention to personal, hybrid or experimental proposals, the specialised tutorials (mentoring sessions) are conceived as flexible and accessible mini-residencies which allow young creators to share their ideas with seasoned professionals and gain critical guidance to help them advance in the development of their projects, following a laboratory logic.

The initiative will select six projects through an open competition, including short films, feature films and series, which will be covered in individual meetings with each of the mentors. Their profiles encompass both the essential perspective of the screenplay — through the experience of screenwriter and director Pedro Rivero — and that of artistic conception and directing, represented by Croatian filmmakers Ivana and Thomas Volda. In addition, by way of a novelty compared to other initiatives of this kind, the programme also includes the viewpoint of expert spectators — programmers — represented by Daniel Suljic, Artistic Director of the International Festival Animafest Zagreb, and Sébastien Sperer, who served as a member of the selection committee at the Annecy Festival for twenty-five years.
