ZINEBI is celebrating its 67th year, offering a space for cinema that dares to take risks, experiments, and looks at the world without filters. We would like to act as a window to see out and also to look in, and a door that opens for creators onto encounters with the audiovisual sector and with the public. The festival also aims to be an open, shared space, where respect for plurality prevails, where listening is appreciated, and where the marvelous curiosity that is a constant companion to culture and the arts has its place.
Thanks to all the institutions and organisations that make ZINEBI possible, fostering encounters and the work of a small but powerful community that, each year, brings together creation and industry, youth and experience, memory and the future. Thanks also to the festival organisers, and especially the selection committee, which has once again worked through thousands of films to offer a competition programme to boost the festival’s international reputation.
ZINEBI is a map of possible journeys and perspectives, shaped and coloured by each and every participant and viewer, with their own interests, marks, and colours. It can be appreciated as a serious space, and also enjoyed as a varied and fun experience. Its programmes and sections, like the laboratories, professional spaces, and networking areas, have a genuinely open-minded vocation. I invite everyone — filmmakers, professionals, students, and especially the people of Bilbao — to immerse themselves in the 67th festival, which I believe will be broad, varied, and enriching.
