Documentary films, documentary series and platforms

This year, as part of the professional encounters ZINEBI is organising, in association with ECAM Madrid Community Film and Audiovisual School, the Festival includes a professional event focusing on the creation and production of documentary series and films, and their relationship with the various platforms available to viewers. The main objective is to bring about a meeting of professionals operating in the industry, in order to conduct an analysis of the current and future status of documentary series and films from the perspective of their presence on platforms.

This professional encounter will commence with a showcase during which director Elías León Siminiani (Feroz Award for Best Documentary in 2019 and Goya Award for Best Short Film in 2022) will be explaining his experience in documentary series: for example, Refugiados (2015, for Atresmedia in association with the BBC), El caso Asunta: Operación Nenúfar (2017, for Atresmedia), El caso Alcàsser (2019, for Netflix), 800 metros (2022, for Netflix), and his latest work El circo de los muchachos (2023, for Amazon Prime Video).

Afterwards, representatives of various platforms and televisions (EITB Primeran, Filmin, RTVE and Movistar) will take part in a round table moderated by ECAM’s Coordinator of International Seminars and Encounters, Cecilia Barrionuevo.
